Relevant Experience
Mjaldur’s Managing director is Dr. Magnús Árni Skjöld Magnússon.
Dr Skjöld has extensive management experience, has been rector, assistant rector and faculty dean at Bifröst University, director of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Iceland and team leader at the The Hague University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. He was a member of the Icelandic Parliament in 1998-1999. He has a long experience of consulting, e.g. as a partner and senior consultant at Reykjavík based Capacent and Expectus. He has worked for the European Commission as an expert in assessing grant applications since 2015.
Dr Skjöld was in Afghanistan in 2018 as a political adviser to NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative.
He studied at the University of Cambridge, the University of San Francisco, the University of Iceland and the Iceland University of the Arts. He holds a PhD in political science and master’s degrees in economics, European studies and composition. He is an associate professor at Bifröst University. He has also done yoga teacher training (200 hours) and served on various boards.
He has published three books in English, How I Became the Yoga Teacher in Kabul (2023), Climate Ready (2023) and City State (2024).
